I see people in threads mention a MAX tier to silent gear materials but I have only seen SSS ingame, is MAX just super rare or an older version of SSS that was changed in an update? No, they aren't. They are two different "Tiers" of grading. Max is the max tier you can grade a material to. SSS is a level below Max. 3 Refined Obsidian 1 enderium for the blade. 3 Titanium 1 refined obsidian for the tool rod.
