1078 posts · Joined 2004. #5 · Apr 24, 2007. I have an 83 F250 (d50 TTB) Dead OE front springs no Body lift and 1/2 wore out 38.5x11 boggers on it that measure 36ish. They hit the leaf springs near full lock and very seldom hit the body. I think with an inch of body lift, and some deeper dish rims that 36/37s would fit fine.Excessive scrub radius will also shorten the life of your wheel bearings and ball joints. For JL Rubicons with their wider axles, 4.5" to 4.7" backspacing is ideal for 37" tires. Less backspacing is required for larger tires such as 40s. I had a 3" rough country lift with 37's on 20" factory wheels. The tires did not hit the wheel wells but they did rub the frame pretty bad at full turn. The tires were 37x12.50 nitto trail grappler. You can do all the lift you want but the tires are going to rub the frame with the factory wheels because of the off set.

It all depends on what you're going to use your truck for. So if your oem tires were 31" and you went to 37s that's a 16% increase. If your oem wheels were 17" then a 16% increase would be +2.5". So similar oem handling would be on 20" wheels with 37" tires. I've got the 2.5" Readylift and 37x12.5's on the stock wheels. They do rub the radius arms but its not bad enough to worry about. Go with 295/65-20. Most 12.50 tires are designed for 8.5" width rims at minimum. 9-10" is recommended. Stock wheels are 8 inches wide. There aren't too many 12.50s that will fit 8" rims based on factory documentation. The Toyo R/T and M/Ts, for example, require an 8.5 minimum.
