I paid $525.00 about 3 years ago for mine. I know that the JM Stamped means original Marlin mfg. My rifle does all that I want and its plenty good for me. The $850.00 price tag seem quite high, to me. You can buy a brand new 1894C in the caliber of your choice for more like the $599-$699 price range.As the others have said, JM just means that it is a proper Marlin. Even JM Marlins show up from time to time with factory defects, but it's much less likely IMO. Your's looks really nice. The old Marlin 336 rifles from the 50's through the earl 80's are my favorites.
