The Return of Godzilla was the first in a long series of reboots to the Godzilla franchise. The original Godzilla was released in 1954 and quickly became an international success spawning a direct sequel (Godzilla Raids Again) the following year and an entire series of films which were released almost yearly until 1975. I grew up watching the original Godzilla series 1954-1995 and by far this was always my favorite movie in it for many reasons. This particular version though is particularly interesting in the way that if you compare the original Japanese and the highly edited American version entitled "Godzilla 1985" it creates a completely different viewing experience.
